Course Description: Delivering the best care to each patient is a goal of every nurse and healthcare worker. Knowledge about individual and cultural differences, outside the realm of "normal," can be a crucial element to providing that care.

Too many healthcare providers are not sensitive to or knowledgeable about the healthcare needs of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) population, even for basic primary care services. Thus, LGBT individuals can suffer from a disproportionate burden of chronic illnesses and delay or forgo seeking care.

This program will provide information as well as strategies to become culturally competent.
