Course Description: This course will provide participants with knowledge to identify risks and increase safety related to fall prevention.

Target Audience: All Healthcare professionals

Learning Outcomes: After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Define some of the physiological factors that contribute to falls
  • Review some of the cognitive factors that contribute to falls
  • Distinguish other balance and mobility factors that contribute to falls
  • Discuss modifiable factors and interventions to reduce fall risk
  • Identify the factors of gait that lead to disability

Length of Course: 60 minutes

Credit Statements:

Licensed Nurses:  Upstate AHEC is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Upon successful completion of this program, participants will receive 1 contact hour.

Dieticians: 1 contact hour of CPE for registered dieticians.

Respiratory Care Practitioners: 1 clock hour will be awarded by Upstate AHEC, an approved provider of continuing education for respiratory care practitioners by the SC Board of Medical Examiners.

Upstate AHEC Credit: This educational offering provides 0.1 CEUs (1 clock hours) by Upstate AHEC and meets SC AHEC Best Practice Standards.
