Course Description: At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to discuss how an individual moves from using prescription opiates to psychological dependency on other opiates.

Target Audience: Licensed Nurses, Licensed Social Workers, counselors and therapists and other interested healthcare workers

Learning Outcomes: After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:
• identify a pattern of progressive symptoms indicating a building opiate dependency.
• Discuss the pattern of progressive psychological symptoms in opiate dependency.
• identify medication options available for opiate dependency.

Length of Course: 1.5 hour

Credit Statements:

Licensed Nurses: Upstate AHEC is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Upon successful completion of this program, participants will receive 1.5 contact hours.

Social Workers: This program has been approved by Upstate AHEC, as part of the SC AHEC system, under its accreditation by the SC Board of Social Work Examiners for 1.5 clock hours of non-social work continuing education.
