Course Description: At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to properly triage patients in the emergency department.

Learning Outcomes: After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:

1. Recognize the purpose and importance of triage.
2. Categorize based on the 5 level Emergency Severity Index triage system.
3. Recognize how clinical assessments by the experienced nurse are imperative to the correct acuity assessment.
4. Demonstrate the use of the ESI 5 level triage system.
