Course Description: This course is designed to assist primary care providers to better understand the pathway for mental illness medication, current medications on the market, the need for new mental health medications and the barriers to making them market ready, and explore possible future treatment options for mental health,

Learning Outcomes: After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • discuss recently released medications for mental health
  • discuss the need for new mental health medications and the hurdles to bringing new medications to market.
  • discuss possible future treatment options for mental health.

Length of Course: 30 minutes

 Licensed Nurses:  Upstate AHEC is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

This continuing education activity is approved for 0.5 contact hour for licensed nurses and 0.5 pharmacology hour.
