Course Description:  This course will provide participants with skills and knowledge to have a conversation about Advance Directives and End of Life Care.

Target Audience: All Healthcare professionals

Learning Outcomes:

  • Define Advance Directives and the benefits of timely completion of these documents.
  • Describe the two types of Advance Directives: Healthcare Power of Attorney and Living Will.
  • Describe how to have a conversation with loved ones about Advance Directives, personal wishes and how to manage this document.
  • Identify different resources to assist in development of Advance Directive.

Length of Course: 90 minutes

Licensed Nurses:  Upstate AHEC is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Upon successful completion of this program, participants will receive 1.50 contact hour.

Social Workers: This program has been approved for 1.5 clock hours of non-social work continuing education by Upstate AHEC, as part of the SC AHEC system, under its accreditation by the SC Board of Social Work Examiners.
