Course Description: This course will discuss challenges and assessment of children with ADD/ADHD.

Target Audience: Licensed professional counselors, social workers, nurses and any other interested healthcare professional

Learning Outcomes: After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • List at least 3 stereotypical images of those with ADD/ADHD
  • List at least 2 of the 3 main categories of ADD/ADHD
  • List and discuss at least 2 areas of consideration as to the reasons for ADD/ADHD
  • List and discuss at least 3 challenges found in properly diagnosing ADD/ADHD
  • List at least 3 assessment tools

Length of Course: 90 minutes

Credit Statements:

Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists:  This program has been approved for 1.5 hour of continuing education by SC AHEC under its accreditation by the SC Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists and Psycho-Educational Specialists.

Social Work: This program has been approved for 1.5 clock hour of non-social work continuing education by Upstate AHEC, as part of the SC AHEC system, under its accreditation by the SC Board of Social Work Examiners.

Others:  This program is approved for 0.15 CEUs (1.5 clock hours) by Upstate AHEC and meets the SC AHEC Best Practice Standards.
