Course Description: This course reviews how to properly take vital sign measurements in the clinical setting. Although this is a basic nursing function, many nurses and other healthcare practitioners do not take vital signs in the properly. Are you following all the correct steps? Are your readings as accurate as they can be? Take this course and brush up on your vital sign techniques and see if you learn a new skill or 2 to take back to your practice.

Target Audience: Licensed nurses and any other interested healthcare professional
Learning Outcomes: After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Describe how to properly perform vital assessment of temperature, pulse, respirations, pulse oximetry, and blood pressure.
- Discuss factors that affect each vital sign assessment.
- Discuss normal and abnormal values for vital signs.
- Describe how to properly perform weight and height assessment.
- Demonstrate how to properly perform vital assessment of temperature, pulse, respirations, pulse oximetry, and blood pressure and height and weight in the lab setting.
Length of Course: 120 minutes + 4 hours of lab competency.
Licensed Nurses: Upstate AHEC is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Upon successful completion of this program, attendees will receive 6.0 contact hours.
