Course Description: This course will provide healthcare professionals with basic understanding about medical terminology and building words.

Learning Outcomes: After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Identify the four types of word parts used to form medical terms.
- Define commonly used word roots, combining forms, prefixes and suffixes used to form medical terms.
- Define at least 20 medical terms by analyzing the word parts.
Length of Course: 60 minutes
Social Workers:This program has been approved by Upstate AHEC, as part of the SC AHEC system, under its accreditation by the SC Board of Social Work Examiners for 1.0 clock hours of non-social work continuing education.
Counselors and Therapists: This program has been approved for 1.0 hours of continuing education by SC AHEC under its accreditation by the SC Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors, Marital and Family Therapists and Psycho-Educational Specialists.
Dietitians: 1.0 hours of CPE for registered dietitians.
Respiratory Care Practitioners: 1.0 clock hours will be awarded by Upstate AHEC, an approved provider of continuing education for respiratory care practitioners by the SC Board of Medical Examiners.
Others:This program is approved for 0.10 CEUs (1.0 clock hours) by Upstate AHEC and meets the SC AHEC Best Practice Standards.
