Course Description: This course will provide an overview of how to discuss motor disabilities and the interprofessional rehabilitation associated with them.

Target Audience: RN

Learning Outcomes: After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Given a case scenario the participant will synthesize a plan of care to increase the execution of activities within the patient’s functional disability taking into account body structure and function to maximize participation in activities at school.
  • The participant will identify 3 ways of how disabilities and functions are viewed as outcomes of interactions between conditions and contextual factors.
  • Using a case scenario the participant will develop an interprofessional plan of care utilizing the skills of the PT, OT, and ST to maximize the patient’s support system and enhance the child with disabilities participation in school life.

Credit Statements:

Licensed Nurses:  Upstate AHEC is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Upon successful completion of this program, participants will receive 1.0 contact hours.

Social Workers: This program has been approved by Upstate AHEC, as part of the SC AHEC system, under its accreditation by the SC Board of Social Work Examiners for 1.0 clock hours of non-social work continuing education.

Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists: This program has been approved for 1.0 hours of continuing education by SC AHEC under its accreditation by the SC Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists and Psycho-Educational Specialists.

Others: This educational offering provides 0.1 CEUs (1.0 clock hour) by Upstate AHEC and meets SC AHEC Best Practice Standards.
