Course Description: At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to discuss physiological changes to the body after pregnancy, how to focus the assessment, postpartum complications, what to teach new parents and a beginning approach to breastfeeding.

Target Audience: Licensed Nurses and other interested healthcare workers
Learning Outcomes: After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:
1. Identify physiologic changes that occur after the delivery of the fetus.
2. Describe the assessment process for the postpartum patient.
3. Discuss the most common postpartum complications encountered by nurses.
4. Identify the important topics for postpartum education.
5. Discuss introductory guidance to postpartum patients about lactation.
Length of Course: 60 minutes
Licensed Nurses: Upstate AHEC is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Upon successful completion of this program, participants will receive contact hours.
